The McGovern Canopy walkway was completed late last year and officially opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in March 2024. The new walkway at High Island Smith Oaks sanctuary is 17 feet tall. I think there are easily a thousand pairs of egrets, spoonbills and a few other varieties roosting there as well as a few alligators. Caught this great white in flight. Found a snowy egret feeding. Of course there were any number of mothers and chicks.
